Howard Students Express Concern Over Vie Towers Being Deemed ‘Uninhabitable’ 

College students and other residents of Vie Towers, an apartment complex in Hyattsville, were sent to bed without a water supply on Sunday, because of a power outage caused by a storm. The following day, they returned from classes without electricity in the hallways and stairways. As time went by, waiting for water and electricity to return, the city of Hyattsville posted an order to vacate the building.

“The Long Walk”

Many Howard University (HU) students begin their long walk in their first year, ending in their Senior year. Students at HU come from all over the world, including Jamaica, Nigeria, and Trinidad. HU is a family of students, faculty, staff, and future and old Bisons.

Students and people are often teased for our reaction to living in different environments. For example, I’m from California living in Washington D.C. The weather is the main struggle people see with us students from the west coast, but they don’t really know how bad is the struggle for us. This sound slide highlights the story of two Howard University students (Selma and Emmanuel) struggles of being from the West Coast living now on the East Coast.
