“The Long Walk”

Many Howard University (HU) students begin their long walk in their first year, ending in their Senior year. Students at HU come from all over the world, including Jamaica, Nigeria, and Trinidad. HU is a family of students, faculty, staff, and future and old Bisons. The long walk resembles strength, legacy, and impact. The strength of completing your journey, the legacy you leave, and the impact you make in this world resembles the “Long Walk” at HU.

The professors, friends, and faculty I have met here have made my “Long Walk” the best I can ever imagine. I’m an introvert and have had trouble making friends at home. Here at HU, I have made friends with nearly everyone in my Practicum and Capstone classes. I plan to manage these connections I make here at HU.

The “Long Walk” has caused me to become confident in my capability. The legacy I wish to leave at HU includes my hard working skills and determination to learn and improve. “Christion Billy was a hardworking student who never gave up and was determined to learn and improve her skills. Despite getting a late start on her career, she kept trying until she got her dream job.” That’s the legacy that I wish to leave here at HU. The legacy to never give up. If you give up your “Long Walk,” will end a lot sooner than expected. Work Hard, Play Hard. Work Hard, and it will all play out in the end.
